AI Usage Statement
The Ideas Are Human. The Tool Is Not.
Catholic Rulers is built on a body of thought that was not generated by artificial intelligence. The core ideas emerged over twenty years of studying primary texts: Aristotle, Augustine, Aquinas, John Paul II, Tocqueville, and others. They developed through classroom notes, conversations with a mentor, personal reflection, the experience of raising a family, and the slow work of Catholic conversion.
This matters because the platform’s authority rests on the tradition it serves, not on the technology it uses. If the ideas were generated by a machine, there would be no reason to trust them.
What AI Does in This Project
AI plays a supporting role in three areas: research support (organizing and cross-referencing a large corpus), idea clarification (testing formulations and refining expression), and platform deployment (the formation chatbot, operating under strict governance).
A Liberal Technology, Not a Libertarian One
A liberal technology frees the person for judgment and responsibility. A libertarian technology displaces the person through automation. We are building the first kind. The AI is deliberately self-limited. It does not decide for the user. Its task is to make the richness of twenty years of personal formation work accessible — and then to step back, because prudence is a virtue, not a calculation.
Why This Matters
The ideas are human. The formation they offer is ordered toward a human end. The AI is the servant, not the master. That is the commitment, and it governs everything we build.
